Server Assistant

Assistant Job DescriptionAssistants and/or Food Runners support other restaurant staff by cleaning dishes, clearing and setting tables, stocking supplies and helping guests. They work in a fast-paced culinary environment to clean and reset tables and make sure that flatware and plates are readily available. As customer service workers, they are responsible for ensuring that guests' needs are either met or brought to the attention of waitstaff and management. Most Assistants work in restaurants, cafes or catering companies to lighten the workload of the wait staff.Responsibilities:Prepare room for dining by preparing tables and setting all condiments, napkins, service plates and utensilsProtect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policiesStay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progressionHelp Serve orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from bar and kitchen; deliver accompaniments and condiments from service barsRespond to additional patron requirements and observing dining processMaintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needsContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededPerform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisorAssist with special events as neededAdhere to grooming and appearance standards consistentlyPromptly address customer service issues and refer customers to management when necessaryDisplay strong customer service skills for interacting with restaurant guestsUtilize communication and teamwork skills for conveying information to other staff membersKnowledge of food production and service, including safe storage practices, handling methods and laws and regulationsAbility to tolerate stress and work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to lift and move heavy objects and stamina for standing and walking for long hoursDexterity for dealing with objects that are fragile or otherwise need careful handlingCritical thinking and problem-solving skillsOrganizational skills and attention to detailQualifications:Previous serving experience preferredExcellent oral communication skills requiredPositive interpersonal skills requiredMust speak English fluently and be able to write in basic EnglishAbility to listenAssistant Top Skills & Proficiencies:Knowledge of Food Service RegulationsLiftingVerbal and Written CommunicationFlexibilityBasic MathCustomer ServiceResolve ConflictTeamworkOrganizationEnergy LevelThoroughnessProfessionalismClient RelationshipsSupplemental Pay:Tips
