Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Description Summary The Services Instrumentation and Controls C10 / C35.6 mechanical engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing Instrumentation and Control (I&C) equipment that controls safety‑critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. Their specific focus is on mechanical components that hold electronic equipment and interconnecting cables. This role requires technical problem solving, requirements management, and effective communication/collaboration with other teams and engineering disciplines. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks. Document requirements and ensure designs meet requirements. Develop / modify mechanical designs to hold electronic components while meeting all requirements for installations in Nuclear power plants. Confirm designs meet requirements through analysis and testing. Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks. Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements and work processes. Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance. Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures. Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline. Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities. Effectively manage multiple priorities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college. 4 years industry experience in mechanical design. Eligibility Requirements For US - This role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information from the U.S. Government. For Canada - GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening. For Canada - This position will report onsite to the Markham office 3 days a week. Desired Qualifications Experience in highly regulated industry. Instrumentation and Controls cabinet design experience with cable design and routing experience. Seismic analysis qualification experience. Familiarity with Nuclear standards and qualification methods. Boiling Water Reactor / Small Module Reactor design experience. Extensive familiarity with Inventor, SolidWorks, and / or AutoCAD. Solves technical challenges through application of common design patterns and identifying appropriate patterns for use in problem solving. Experience with typical engineering project design methods from requirements definition through confirmation testing of final design. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to articulate clearly. Contributes to creative solutions and challenges status quo. Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
