We invite you to watch our "Welcome to DPA" video here: What you will be doing: In this position, you will be part of the Eligibility Modernization Office’s Technology and Development Team, supporting Alaskan families, elders, and individuals in need as they strive for greater independence and self-sufficiency. Eligibility Technicians connect the public with a variety of public assistance programs and services while also contributing to system improvements by participating in user acceptance testing for new system developments and enhancements. The working environment you can expect: This postion is located in Wasilla, Alaska The work location is 855 W Commercial Drive, Wasilla, AK 99654 This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state. Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below: Eligibility Determinations: Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures required to evaluate financial, personal, medical, and household information to determine program eligibility, authorize benefits, and maintain case records within mandatory timeframes Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska. OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations. Substitution: Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
