Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse for a 13-week night shift assignment in Watertown, New York. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic surgical environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patient needs, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining an aseptic environment throughout the perioperative process. This position requires a commitment to teamwork, strong clinical skills, and the ability to adapt to various surgical demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgical Unit (ASU) settings.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, addressing clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs throughout the surgical experience.
• Identify and mitigate safety issues for both patients and staff, including the safe assessment and implementation of patient lifts.
• Ensure the maintenance of a sterile and safe environment within the OR/ASU.
• Utilize typical clinical equipment and instrumentation effectively to support surgical procedures.
• May be required to assume charge nurse duties, demonstrating leadership and delegation skills.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in preceptorship, charge nurse roles, or other leadership capacities.

• Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and perioperative care.
• Ability to function effectively and maintain composure in stressful situations.

• Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Days per Week: 3 days

• Assignment Dates: October 26, 2026 - January 27, 2027
• Requirements: Weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts are required.
• On-Call Response Time: Must be able to respond within 30 minutes for on-call duties.

Licensing Requirements

• Current New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
