The Opportunity

As an Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies , you will combine teaching, scholarship, ministry experience, and student mentorship to contribute to Moody’s Christ-centered educational mission. The ideal candidate will be an engaging classroom teacher with an entrepreneurial mindset who brings creativity and initiative to the continued growth and enrichment of the Jewish Studies program.

In addition to teaching, you will have opportunities to contribute to course and program development, collaborate across academic disciplines, mentor students in their academic and spiritual formation, and strengthen connections between Moody, the broader academic community, and faith-based ministry.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare syllabi and teach undergraduate courses in Jewish Studies, including biblical, historical, and theological perspectives, as well as Messianic prophecy.
• Partner with the Program Head to establish appropriate course learning outcomes and assess student achievement.
• Teach effectively across multiple modalities, including in-person and online instruction using learning management systems.
• Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to assigned students, supporting both academic progress and spiritual development.
• Maintain a regular on-campus presence and scheduled office hours in accordance with faculty guidelines.
• Participate actively in field, committee, and faculty meetings.
• Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to identify opportunities for program growth, scholarly engagement, course development, and community outreach.
• Contribute to the academic vitality and broader impact of Jewish Studies within Moody and the wider academic and faith community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's degree in a relevant academic field.
• Current or demonstrated engagement in Jewish ministry.
• Ability to teach cross-departmentally in areas such as biblical studies, theology, evangelism, intercultural studies, or applied theology.
• Commitment to transformational learning and the holistic development of students.
• Ability and willingness to teach in multiple instructional modalities.
• Desire for continued spiritual growth and a commitment to mentoring students.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated personal integrity, passion, perseverance, and professionalism.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach, with openness to varied ministry perspectives and approaches.
• Understanding of and commitment to the authority of Scripture and Moody's mission.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred

• Doctorate in related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience developing or leading new academic initiatives, programs, or scholarly activities that foster program growth, student engagement, and broader institutional impact.

Work Environment

• This position is based at Moody Bible Institute’s Chicago campus and requires a regular on-campus presence.
• Faculty responsibilities include classroom instruction, academic advising and mentoring, scholarship, committee participation, and service within a collaborative, Christ-centered academic community.
• Work is primarily performed in professional office and classroom settings, with opportunities for ministry-related engagement.
• Instruction is primarily in person, with faculty expected to effectively utilize virtual teaching and learning technologies as needed.
• Faculty schedules generally fall Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities based on academic and institutional needs.
