Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable Shop Clerk to serve as the first point of contact for customers, vendors, and delivery drivers. This role is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound materials, processing transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, visitors, and delivery drivers entering the yard.
• Direct traffic and deliveries while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Weigh inbound and outbound materials using scale systems and accurately process transactions.
• Verify customer information, vehicle identification, and required documentation.
• Assess and classify materials to ensure proper pricing, valuation, and processing.
• Issue tickets, receipts, and supplies as required for material transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of contracts, deliveries, transactions, and customer information.
• Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer inquiries professionally.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production and service goals.
• Demonstrate reliability through consistent attendance and timely completion of assigned duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, data entry, administrative support, or a related field.
• Previous experience in industrial, recycling, scrap metal, rebar, or yard operations environments preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and transaction processing.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with scale systems, ticketing software, or inventory management systems.
• Knowledge of material grading, weighing procedures, and operational compliance requirements.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and team members.
