Childcare Lead Teacher

Summary

At Talented and Gifted Academy (TAG Academy), we are dedicated to providing a safe, stable, and inspiring learning environment for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. Our mission centers on fostering early childhood literacy and creating well-rounded learners ready to excel in formal education.
TAG Academy uses the award-winning Lillio curriculum , which is rooted in evidence-based, child-centered practices. This curriculum allows us to meet each child’s unique needs by individualizing instruction and emphasizing creativity, emotional development, and foundational literacy skills. Our focus on early literacy, STEAM integration, and character development ensures that children enter school with the tools they need for lifelong success.

We are seeking passionate and innovative educators to join our team as Lead Teachers for our infants. At TAG Academy, you will implement the Lillio curriculum to create dynamic, literacy-focused learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs.

Duties

• Supervising and ensuring the safety of infants
• Providing basic care like feeding and diaper changes
• Fostering development through age-appropriate activities and routines
• Educate and take care of children 
• Help in building children’s developmental skills and track their progress 
• Develop and deliver interactive lesson plans
• Establish and enforce behavior rules in the classroom
• Offer classroom resources and tools
• Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet children's learning styles and interests
• Manage all classroom activities, including lessons, play, transitions, and meals
• Maintain positive relationships among the children
• Track progress and offer documented reports to families
• Implement lesson plans through collaboration with other staff members
• Adhere to all sanitation guidelines and health procedures
• Facilitate children's activities, including storytelling, games, and songs
• Maintain classroom inventories for supplies and materials

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience, preferably with a focus on early literacy
• Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in the Lillio curriculum .
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to TAG Academy’s values of integrity, honesty, creativity, curiosity, kindness, and inclusivity.
• High school diploma, equivalency credential recognized by the State Board of Education, certificate of completion, or South Carolina high school employability credential.

• Must pass a comprehensive background check, including:
• South Carolina Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry & Database checks.
• Out-of-state Abuse and Neglect checks if the candidate has lived outside of South Carolina in the past 5 years.
• In-state and National Sex Offender Database checks.
• State and Federal fingerprinting. 
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before start date.
• Completion of 15 hours of health and safety service provider training within 30 days of employment. 
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical activities such as bending, standing, and sitting on the floor with children.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage classroom activities effectively.
• Knowledge of child development milestones and best practices for early literacy instruction.
• Passion for fostering a lifelong love of learning in young children.
