Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Shift: Day | Employment Status: Full‑Time (.75 or greater) | Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Non‑Exempt) | Starting Wage DOE: $37.11 - 46.39 The incumbent is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging services in the specialty of Ultrasound. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer operates equipment to produce diagnostic images, provides exposure to students, interviews patients, explains procedures, assists with positioning, reviews results with radiologists, and prepares preliminary reports. Essential Job Functions Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service. Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations as ordered by the physician. Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of all patients. Uses sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Coordinates scheduling, transportation, and scanning of patients. Maintains patient examination records; maintains ultrasound equipment; ensures adequate supplies. Assists physicians with invasive ultrasound guidance procedures. Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes information, prepares preliminary reports, reviews exam with interpreting physician, and communicates as appropriate. Maintains competency and participates in laboratory accreditation and training requirements. Identifies needs and sets goals for growth, maintains knowledge of current trends. Performs other duties as assigned or needed. This position may be eligible for a $10,000.00 sign‑on incentive, relocation, and tuition loan reimbursement. Minimum Qualifications Graduate, or minimum of one year completion of a diagnostic medical sonography program. Must be ARMDS registry eligible. Certifications and Licensure On‑the‑job training and experience equivalents considered for staff trained before formal training programs. Current registration with ARDMS; must become registrants within one year of employment. Fundamental understanding of Doppler physics; current specialty certifications required within one year of employment. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) as applicable. Current CPR certification.
