Undergraduate Intern - The Sensory Studio Position Type: Internship (Unpaid/Possible Eligibility for Academic Credit) About The Sensory Studio and Internship Program The Sensory Studio is a private, family-based practice specializing in pediatric speech therapy and occupational therapy in Staten Island, New York. Our skilled therapists are dedicated to unlocking the full potential of every child through individualized therapy programs tailored to their unique needs. The Sensory Studio’s internship program offers high school and college students the opportunity to gain exposure to speech and occupational therapy within a private pediatric practice. Along with clinical observation and learning experiences, interns also develop an understanding of the day-to-day business operations that support and sustain our organization. Our goal is to help students explore diverse areas within the healthcare and administrative fields, including business management, data analytics, coding, and social media content creation. Many of our interns become deeply engaged with the program and move into expanded roles within our organization. What You’ll Gain From This Role As an intern at The Sensory Studio, you will be given the chance to: Observe both pediatric occupational and speech therapy sessions Learn how a multidisciplinary healthcare practice operates on a daily basis Assist with business and administrative operations Gain experience utilizing platforms such as Google Workspace, Canva, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and various electronic medical record systems Contribute in social media, internal content, and marketing creation Advance your professional communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Receive individualized mentorship from experienced clinical and administrative professionals Responsibilities At The Sensory Studio, interns are given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of tasks across multiple different specialties. Some of the responsibilities may include: Observing and documenting therapy sessions Assisting therapists with session preparation and organization Supporting various administrative operations Organizing therapy materials and clinical spaces Assisting with projects related to marketing, social media, and communications Participating in day‑to‑day operations of the practice Qualifications No prior clinical experience is required! We are looking for students who are: At least 15 years old Currently enrolled in high school, college, or a university program Interested in healthcare, psychology, occupational therapy, speech‑language pathology, education, business, communications, public relations, marketing, data analysis, or any other related field Professional, dependable, and eager to learn & experience new things Comfortable working both independently and as a part of a team Strong communicators with exceptional organizational skills Semester‑based internship; Fall, Spring, and Summer opportunities available Taking applications for Fall semester (September 14 - December 23) until July 16, 2026 Approximately 10-15 hours per week (minimum of 5 hours per week is required) Monday-Thursday during clinic operating hours Internship length: approximately 3-4 months Academic credit may be accommodated if required by your school Preferred Majors Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, however, the internship may be especially valuable for those studying: Occupational Therapy Public Health Education Business Marketing Human Development Social Work Communications Data Analytics How to Apply To apply for The Sensory Studio Internship Program, please complete the internship application available on our Careers page.
