Senior Project Engineer

Exentec is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to design factoryautomation equipment across a wide range of industries, including semiconductor, medical, automotive, and aerospace. In this role, you will take designs from concept through production, applying strong engineering fundamentals, creativity, and disciplined execution.

You will thrive in a fastpaced environment with short schedules and tight deadlines-without compromising accuracy, quality, or professionalism. The ideal candidate is selfmotivated, technically strong, and capable of managing multiple projects at various stages of development.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

• Develop system concepts, present design ideas, perform engineering calculations, and create budgets and schedules for subsystem and fullsystem automation solutions.
• Perform analytical calculations, including pressure, flow, and pressuredrop analysis.
• Apply material and process knowledge to support the design and manufacturing of sheetmetal enclosures and related components.
• Prepare 3D layouts and models based on design specifications; generate detailed part drawings from models.
• Produce assembly drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs) from assembly models.
• Lead internal and external design review presentations for discussion, alignment, and approval.
• Collaborate with supply chain and account managers to select components that optimize cost, lead time, and performance.
• Support Manufacturing during system builds to ensure adherence to design intent, customer specifications, and industry standards.
• Partner with Field Service teams to provide onsite engineering support for installation, operation, retrofits, and repairs.
• Design with cost, manufacturability, and testability in mind.
• Occasionally work outside standard business hours to meet project deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Show your expertise

Education and Experience

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in related markets.
• Minimum 3-5 years of OEM and factoryautomation design and engineering experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge

• Full system designcycle experience from concept through detailing and release to production.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD (required); experience with ProE or Inventor is a plus.
• Strong understanding of drawing standards, formatting, dimensioning, and basic GD&T.
• General understanding of electrical cable harness components and design.
• Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and selfsufficiency while knowing when to ask questions.
• Strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and meeting deadlines.
• Professional presence and positive communication style that reflects well on the organization.

Exentec serves the semiconductor, life sciences, and other advanced technology industries, offering integration and installation of everything from high-purity piping for gas, chemical, and water systems to chilled water, wastewater, and HVAC systems, along with a full suite of electrical and controls systems. Exentec can design, supply, install, hook up, and commission our own line of gas, chemical, and cleanroom equipment, including the supply and installation of external OEM equipment.
