A CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level, requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and assumes responsibility for designated areas and procedures as required. The scope follows the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or, for Electrophysiology, the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. Essential Functions Participate in procedure room preparation and post‑procedure turnaround. Develop specific knowledge with regard to invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, including assisting in inventory control and understanding proper use and deployment techniques for hemodynamic recordings. Provide patient education and emotional support, ensuring patient comfort and fostering teamwork with team members and physicians. Develop knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic anomalies, and treatment options; assess patient condition, document, and inform physician of deviations throughout the procedure. Understand and apply principles of x‑ray generation and safety, demonstrating correct operation of imaging equipment. May mix and administer medications under physician direction (RCIS or RCES required to pass medications) pursuant to state laws. At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to achieve hemostasis. Provide thorough and accurate documentation of each procedure and associated events. Develop skills in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory; perform point‑of‑care testing and quality assurance. Accountabilities include scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring during diagnostic, interventional, and CRM procedures according to scope of practice documents, completing data entry, processing imaging studies and hemodynamic assessments, and preparing procedural reports. PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults; new employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech). Or graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program. Or graduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical tech, RN/LPN). Or graduate of a non‑programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology with at least one year of specialty training and 800 clinical hours; education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Intermediate computer skills. Current license, where applicable. And surgical tech/assistant certification per state requirements. Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado. Preferred Qualifications 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication and rapid interpretation of alarms, needs, and issues. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, frequent computer use, and typing for documentation, medication preparation, and information access. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often navigating crowded and busy rooms. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Location Intermountain Health St. Vincent Regional Hospital, Billings, Montana Hours & Compensation 40 hours per week. Hourly rate: $39.16–$60.42, depending on experience.
