Deli Clerk

Job Summary We are seeking a friendly and customer-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. As a Deli Clerk, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and preparing food items accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor Prepare and serve deli items such as sandwiches, salads, hot foods, and grab-and-go products. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary deli counter, food prep areas, and equipment. Follow all food safety, handling, and sanitation guidelines (e.g., temperature checks, labeling, rotation). Provide friendly, efficient customer service at the deli counter. Operate slicers, ovens, fryers, and other deli equipment safely. Keep shelves and coolers stocked with fresh deli products throughout the day. Take customer orders accurately and handle transactions as needed. Monitor inventory levels and inform supervisors when supplies or ingredients need restocking. Package, label, and date deli products for display and sale. Assist with daily opening/closing duties, including cleaning, restocking, and equipment checks. Work collaboratively with store staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive customer experience. Requirements Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required) Previous deli, food service, or retail experience is a plus but not required Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (training often provided) Skills & Abilities Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to operate deli equipment (slicers, fryers, ovens) safely after training Basic math skills for handling transactions and measurements Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and store proceduresGood time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Capability to lift, carry, or move items up to 25–40 lbs Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks (slicing, prepping, cleaning) Work Habits Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently Comfortable working in a team environment Willingness to follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays We offer competitive pay and benefits, including opportunities for career advancement.
