Exciting opportunity to be a vital part of a dynamic pharmacy department! Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy while positively impacting patient care. Prepare and distribute medications in compliance with federal and state laws. Provide valuable patient counseling and education. Collaborate with medical, nursing, and village staff on drug therapy advisement. Maintain an appropriate drug inventory and engage in quality improvement activities. Demonstrate professional judgment in evaluating prescriptions for safety, appropriateness, and compliance. Key Essential Functions Review all prescriptions for legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and lab value abnormalities. Provide clinical consultation and resolve concerns with prescribers before dispensing. Document clinical activities and interventions thoroughly. Verify and fill prescription orders accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate with patients to ensure understanding of medication usage and expectations. Perform medication therapy management and chart reviews for prescription refills. Direct pharmacy support personnel and serve as a role model for pharmacy students and technicians. Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives, as well as departmental activities. Engage in health promotion and disease prevention related to drug use and therapy. Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required Pharm.D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist. Candidates licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be considered with 3 years of relevant experience. An unrestricted license as a registered pharmacist in the State of Alaska. Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Completion of a nationally recognized pharmacy residency program preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in reviewing medical histories, lab results, and medication orders. Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws. Ability to provide age-appropriate care to all patients. Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of computer applications and mathematical skills for accurate dosing. Capacity to work collaboratively within the health system and pharmacy staff. Flexibility to adapt to frequent interruptions and changes in workload. Shift Information 4X10 schedule, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM, including weekend and holiday coverage. Minimum Years of Experience 2 years of relevant experience.
