This continued recognition further affirms Baylor as a rewarding place to build a career.What We Are Looking ForThe Payroll Analyst/Senior Payroll Analyst develops an extensive understanding of the university's payroll system to accurately and timely pay employees in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. While adhering to strict processing deadlines and meeting required deliverables, the role helps to ensure proper tax treatment, accounting, and disposition of withholdings such as taxes, deductions for benefits, retirement contributions, and other deductions by utilizing appropriate analysis skills. The Senior Payroll Analyst's activities are in support of all exempt and non-exempt employees including students, faculty, staff, highly compensated and key employees.A bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience are required. Five years of relevant experience is preferred.A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.The University reserves the discretion to hire at either level role.Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.What You Will DoHelps ensure proper payment of wages and salaries by using the in-house payroll system to correctly process salaries and reported hours worked, correctly utilize paid leave and holiday pay, correctly accrue compensatory time, and correctly compute overtimeGenerates records of payrolls showing each payee, hours worked for employees, wages paid, associated withholdings for retirement, benefits, and other contributions, and taxes withheld, maintains payroll recordsProcesses off-cycle payrolls in accordance with legal requirements and University policyUses analytic tools to verify the accuracy of payroll data inputs, coordinating with appropriate business partners for necessary actionsAs needed, calculate pay adjustments and verify retroactive paySupport payroll reporting, internal and external audits, and ensures compliance with federal, state regulationsVerify accuracy and completeness of payment disbursements, tax reporting, and accounting activityWhen necessary, coordinates with Payroll Accountant to prepare accounting entries and in system employee balance adjustments in support of month/quarter/year end closing activitiesProvides superior customer service to assist employees or supervisors with understanding payroll processesContributes to the success of the university by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned, acting as a back-up for other positions as needed, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate levels of confidentiality, and providing superior customer service in all interactionsWorks collaboratively with Payroll Manager, Payroll Analysts, Human Resources staff, and others across the universityAt the Senior level, will use a working knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures, and data practices within the employee life cycle (hire through termination) and has an extensive understanding of impacts in the HR/Payroll systemAt the Senior level, as needed, support other Payroll Analysts with research and resolution in data validation processAt the Senior level, as needed, collaborate with Payroll Systems Analyst on root cause analysis and testing of system issues and improvement opportunities that impact payroll processes and deliverablesPerform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's missionAbility to comply with University policiesMaintain regular and punctual attendanceWhat You Can ExpectAs part of the Baylor family, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous time off, tuition remission, and outstanding automatic retirement contributions.
