- Title : HR Generalist
- Type : Contract - Full Time
- Location : San Francisco, CA (Onsite)
- Compensation : 50- 65hr
- Start : ASAP
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees on HR policies, benefits, payroll-related questions, and general people operations support
- Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, leave programs, and other offerings
- Support the ongoing administration of the company's 401(k) retirement plan, including employee enrollments, changes, and coordination with plan providers
- Coordinate employment-based immigration and work authorization processes - including documentation, deadlines, renewals, and employee communications - in partnership with outside immigration counsel
- Manage onboarding and offboarding, and support employee lifecycle changes such as promotions, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and terminations
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation within HR systems
- Support compliance efforts, helping ensure policies and practices align with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements
- Partner with benefits brokers, retirement plan administrators, immigration counsel, and other HR vendors
- Assist with employee relations matters, escalating complex situations as appropriate
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and support additional People/HR initiatives as the company grows
- 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, People Operations professional, or in a similar HR role, ideally within a fast-paced technology or high-growth environment
- Hands-on experience administering employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, and related offerings)
- Experience supporting or administering a 401(k) retirement plan, including employee support and coordination with third-party plan administrators
- Experience supporting employment-based immigration and work authorization processes, including coordination with immigration counsel and employees
- Strong understanding of HR operations and the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and HR documentation
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Experience working with HRIS and benefits administration platforms
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive employee matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential employee information
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving technology environment where processes continue to develop as the organization scales
- Experience supporting employees in California and familiarity with California employment requirements
- Experience working within an AI, technology, startup, or high-growth organization
- Experience developing or improving HR processes and programs during periods of rapid organizational growth
- Experience partnering directly with benefits brokers, 401(k) providers, and immigration counsel
