This travel opportunity places an experienced pharmacist in a unique hospital setting within a remote island community known for its breathtaking natural beauty. Location: Sitka, Alaska
Schedule/Hours:

• 4x10 hour shifts, 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM
• Coverage includes weekends, holidays, and call time

Key Responsibilities:

• Review prescriptions thoroughly for appropriateness, legality, and safety concerns
• Provide clinical consultation to prescribers to ensure optimal medication therapy
• Document clinical interventions with accuracy and detail
• Enter and verify prescription orders efficiently using pharmacy software
• Counsel patients, ensuring clear understanding of their medications
• Conduct chart reviews for refills and medication therapy management
• Write provider recommendations and request prescription refills as needed
• Offer drug information and education to staff and patients
• Oversee pharmacy technicians daily activities
• Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives
• Contribute to health promotion and disease prevention efforts
• Support pharmacy-run clinics as necessary

Qualifications and Experience:

• PharmD degree and active, unrestricted Alaska Pharmacist License (essential)
• Bachelor of Pharmacy with 3 years hospital or ambulatory experience considered for licenses obtained prior to 2003
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers required
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency preferred
• Experience in hospital or ambulatory clinic pharmacy settings highly valued
• Ability to work independently and manage call coverage during shifts
• Must comply with fingerprinting and flu vaccination requirements promptly upon acceptance
