Safety Specialist USA Waste & Recycling USA Waste and Recycling, Inc. Position Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting in monitoring and coordinating the company's safety programs, including the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, safety audits, and training. Your Role Monitor and communicate compliance with company‑wide safety programs such as fleet safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, and other safety compliance programs. Advise Safety Manager on procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). Monitor, track, and communicate safety incidents across the company. Analyze accident and incident reports for trends and make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions. Lead and/or guide safety mentors and student interns. Assist with the investigation of incidents and injuries from initial report to closure. Serve as the Worker’s Compensation liaison with managers, employees, brokers, insurance carriers, safety, and human resources. Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace. Maintain reasonable, regular, and punctual attendance consistent with company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards. Adapt to changing duties, as required, based on business needs. Your Skills Problem‑solving/Analysis. Communication Proficiency. Ethical Conduct.
