Fabrication Operator

Role Summary Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Fabrication Operator is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Fabricators are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, a Fabricator’s main responsibility is cutting, threading, grooving, testing, and bundling pipe and fittings to meet customer’s specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pipe threading, cutting, and grooving Product quality testing through pressure and/or chemical testing Painting product Sandblasting if required by location Material layout by customer measurements/specifications Read job prints Participate in safety initiatives as assigned Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards Learn how to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc. Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of warehouse Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Warehouse Manager Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures Safely operate additional warehouse equipment Attend meetings and training sessions Other fabrication tasks as assigned Competencies You Possess Service Excellence Results, Action Oriented Accountability and Responsibility Teamwork and Collaboration Safety Conscious What You’ll Need High School Diploma or GED Basic computer skills for standard office equipment, barcode scanner, printer, and warehouse equipment; basic math and reasoning skills Excellent work ethic, good verbal and communication skills; ability to work independently Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Fabrication Manager Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs; stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during entire work shift Physical, Mental and Visual Skills The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
