Anticipated Opportunity – Federal Government Program
Important Hiring Notice: This position is being posted in anticipation of a potential upcoming contract award. The position is not immediately available. Osi Vision anticipates that hiring for this role may begin approximately 30–90 days from the date of posting, subject to contract award, Government direction, funding, and program start requirements. Job Summary
The Public Affairs Specialist will support a Federal Government defense program through strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, industry outreach, event support, and multimedia content development. The position will create clear, professional communication products and help Government leadership communicate program information effectively to internal and external audiences.
Working in coordination with Government public affairs and program personnel, the Public Affairs Specialist will support communication planning, digital content, leadership materials, conferences, industry engagement activities, and other outreach initiatives. The position will also monitor engagement results and recommend improvements to communication strategies and stakeholder outreach efforts.
This role provides advisory, communications, and administrative support and does not serve as an official Government spokesperson or independently release official Government communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Government public affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, industry outreach, and related communication activities.
- Assist with implementation of strategic communication plans, public messaging, outreach materials, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Develop professional written and multimedia communication products, including photography, videography, graphic design, presentations, digital content, technical articles, program publications, correspondence, and social media content.
- Prepare briefing materials, talking points, speeches, presentation materials, fact sheets, newsletters, executive communications, and other products supporting Government leadership engagements.
- Plan and coordinate conferences, industry events, workshops, demonstrations, training events, public engagements, and other outreach activities.
- Coordinate event schedules, logistics, registration activities, promotional materials, audiovisual requirements, attendee communications, and post-event follow-up.
- Coordinate with Government personnel, program stakeholders, industry representatives, contractors, and other external organizations to support timely and consistent communication activities.
- Maintain communication calendars, outreach trackers, event schedules, content plans, and other records necessary to support program communication activities.
- Support development and maintenance of digital communication content across approved Government platforms and communication channels.
- Ensure communication products are professionally written, visually consistent, accurate, and aligned with Government communication objectives.
- Monitor communication metrics, stakeholder engagement, public outreach activities, digital performance, and event results.
- Analyze communication and engagement data and recommend improvements to outreach strategies, messaging, content, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Route public-facing products through required Government review and approval channels prior to release.
- Ensure communications activities remain within appropriate contractor support functions and do not involve serving as an official Government spokesperson or independently releasing official Government communications.
- Handle sensitive program information with appropriate discretion and in accordance with applicable security requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field; or at least five years of verifiable professional experience supporting public affairs, strategic communications, multimedia production, stakeholder outreach, or related activities.
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and supporting conferences, industry events, workshops, trade shows, or similar outreach activities.
- Experience coordinating event schedules, logistics, registration, promotion, stakeholder communications, and post-event activities.
- Demonstrated experience developing professional written communications, multimedia products, presentations, digital content, and other communication materials.
- Experience preparing leadership briefing materials, talking points, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, correspondence, or similar executive-level communication products.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software used for document preparation, presentation development, graphic design, digital content, or multimedia production.
- Strong professional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical or complex program information into clear, concise communication materials for different audiences.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple communication products, events, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Ability to work professionally with senior Government, military, civilian, contractor, industry, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and follow established Government review and approval processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal Government public affairs, strategic communications, or stakeholder engagement activities.
- Experience developing multimedia content, including photography, videography, graphic design, digital media, or social media content.
- Experience supporting industry engagement, conferences, demonstrations, or large-scale Government outreach events.
- Familiarity with Government public affairs review, approval, and release processes.
- Experience tracking communication metrics, engagement data, digital performance, or outreach effectiveness.
