Consultant, Emerging Markets Underwriting

Overview Nationwide’s Property and Casualty team is looking for a Consultant, Emerging Markets Implementation to lead the evaluation, onboarding, and management of innovative risk solutions and distribution partnerships. The role collaborates cross‑functionally to launch new products, manage portfolio performance (including P&L), and drive growth in emerging risk spaces. Key Responsibilities Lead evaluation, onboarding, and management of innovative risk solutions and distribution partnerships. Collaborate cross‑functionally to launch new products, manage portfolio performance (P&L), and drive growth in emerging risk spaces. Review and analyze highly complex lines of business; underwrite individual risk for acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions. Develop and integrate new and existing programs, including underwriting guidelines, forms, rate filings, and other program tools. Assist with reinsurance decisions and develop loss control and risk‑management strategies. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal business liaisons, external program managers, and brokers. Train and mentor underwriting team members and support staff where applicable. Provide business forecasting and profitability analysis for assigned programs, recommending corrective actions and identifying new business opportunities. Perform audits of individual risks/programs for compliance with company guidelines, state regulations, and reinsurance conditions. Travel locally and overnight as required for client meetings and marketing visits. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree focused on Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Risk Management (graduate degree preferred). Five or more years of experience as a professional, financial, or specialty lines underwriter. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a business‑development mindset. Knowledge of underwriting policies, insurance law, and marketing principles. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and negotiate with partners at all levels. Project and process management skills; ability to manage large programs and develop innovative solutions. Experience in the E&S/Specialty underwriting market preferred. Business‑casual attire. Employment Information Salary range: $120,000.00–$224,000.00 (expected starting range $120,000.00–$180,000.00).
