Certified Nursing AssistantA Certified Nursing Assistant's primary responsibility is to assist patients with their daily activities. Your daily responsibilities will be to deliver direct care to patients (bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.) as directed by the RN or LPN in charge. Your role will be to maintain patient comfort and safety. You'll also need to follow all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.Essential ResponsibilitiesCompletion of Resident ADL's such as assistance with Eating, Bathing, Dressing and incontinence care of ResidentsCollecting information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses, and doctorsObserving patients for bruises and other injuries/woundsTurning or repositioning patients who are bedridden • Lifting patients into beds, wheelchairs, or exam tablesCleaning and sanitizing patient areas • Changing sheets and restocking rooms with necessary suppliesEnsuring patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferencesStay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedureProvide basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within the Nursing Assistant's scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs.Provide general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the Nursing Assistant's scope of practice.Demonstrate performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a Nursing Assistant.Perform basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.Demonstrate ability to communicate to the Charge Nurse any observed changes in patient status and responses.Maintain awareness of the needs of the geriatric and general patient population.Demonstrate ability to assist with feeding patients and maintaining fluid balance with technique appropriate for patient's age and physical condition.Demonstrate ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice.Communicate appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers, and physicians.Provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, geriatric, and general population.Demonstrate an ability to assist with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of the Charge Nurse.Respond to patient in emergency or physically distressful situations.Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures patient confidentiality.Non-Essential FunctionsPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsComplete annual education requirementsMaintain patient confidentialityMaintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulationsRepresent the organization in a positive professional mannerComply with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practiceParticipate in performances improvement and continuous quality improvement activities Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of patient servicesStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situationsAbility to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitudeAbility to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibility and to prioritize scheduling of workAbility to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal informationAbility to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely mannerAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner Physical Requirements and Environmental ConditionsWorking irregular hours including call hoursPhysically demanding, high stress environmentExposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motionPushing and pulling heavy objectsFull range of body motion including handling and lifting patientsPosition requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carryPosition requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and fingers, talking and/or hearing and seeingQualificationsCurrent CNA certificate in good standing or ability to complete accredited training program.High level of patience, empathy, and compassion.
