The firm leads minority capital raises, typically at Series A and B, investing $15–70M in founder-owned, capital-efficient B2B technology companies with $5M+ in revenue. Because Volition invests minority capital, founders retain majority ownership and control — the firm's role is to be a genuinely useful partner, not a typical control investor. About half of the portfolio is bootstrapped founders, which means the team spends significant time earning trust well before any capital event ever happens. ROLE OVERVIEW Volition's talent function runs executive searches across roughly 40 portfolio companies. This role exists to give that function the sourcing and early-screening capacity it needs to keep pace — someone who can take a search from an open role to a qualified slate of candidates ready for a senior-level conversation. The person in this seat is accountable for the front half of the search process: building candidate lists, conducting outreach, running initial screens, and keeping the pipeline organized and current so that senior interviewers only see candidates worth their time. This is a junior seat with real responsibility attached — candidates will experience Volition's talent brand through this person first, often before anyone more senior gets involved. It reports directly to Chris Fahey, and works in close, day-to-day partnership with the Senior Manager, Talent on live searches. The right person is organized, dependable, and genuinely curious about how a structured executive search comes together — someone looking to build real search skill inside a small, high-trust team rather than run a high volume of low-stakes reqs. ABOUT THE ROLE Candidate Sourcing & Pipeline Source candidates for open portfolio company searches through LinkedIn, targeted outreach, and referral networks. Build and maintain candidate longlists calibrated to each search's scorecard. Conduct initial outreach that represents Volition's talent brand accurately and professionally. Early-Stage Screening Run initial phone or video screens to assess baseline fit before candidates advance to senior-level interviews. Keep the applicant tracking system accurate and current for every active search. Coordinate scheduling for later-stage interviews across candidates, portfolio company interviewers, and Volition leadership. Search Support Support the Senior Manager, Talent with market research, compensation benchmarking, and JD drafting on active searches. Take notes and track themes across candidate conversations to inform later-stage interview questions. Flag risks or gaps in a pipeline early, rather than waiting for a search to stall. Process & Coordination Maintain clean, current pipeline data across every search in flight. Communicate with candidates promptly and professionally at every stage, including when the answer is no. Pace, Metrics & Communication Brings real pace and intensity to the work — Volition moves fast, and this role needs someone who matches that energy every day. Contributes directly to team metrics: searches completed per quarter, hitting new-hire targets without compromising quality, and strong retention outcomes. Proactively communicates pipeline status and candidate updates to stakeholders — portfolio company contacts and internal Volition staff — before anyone has to ask. ABOUT YOU 2+ years of recruiting experience, agency or in-house. Manages high-volume outreach and follow-up without dropping details. Detail-oriented — pipeline hygiene and scheduling accuracy are non-negotiable, not afterthoughts. Comfortable in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment; treats pipeline throughput and candidate quality as personal accountability. Proactively flags status and pipeline health to stakeholders without being asked. Clear, professional communicator — with candidates and senior stakeholders alike.
