Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Medical/Surgical

Position Summary Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Medical/Surgical. Part Time Day Shift (12 Hours) with every third weekend. Responsibilities Works under the supervision of the department Director, Manager, and registered nurse to provide nursing care for acutely ill patients. Performs assigned procedures within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Contributes to patient assessment by collecting data for analysis by an RN. Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication. Documents patient care and assists RN with development of plan of care. Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program. Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse License in Iowa or from a Compact State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Recent RN experience. Preferred Qualifications One year med/surg nursing experience.
