Overall Responsibility: Manages and directs activities of an engineering department to deliver high-quality software solutions Key Areas of Responsibility: Technical Leadership Own team’s technical direction by developing and maintaining Technical Development Plans and Technical Risk Registers Develop and maintain procedures to ensure quality standards Direct architectural software designs and their implementation per customer requirements and design constraints Implement technical innovations to improve team processes and development Build high-performing engineering teams and a culture of growth, ownership, and technical excellence with clear expectations for execution and collaboration Provide regular, actionable feedback and coaching to support growth and address performance issues constructively Cross-Functional Leadership Own delivery outcomes by maintaining program roadmaps aligned with project milestones and ensuring stakeholder alignment on team priorities and critical path Support proposal efforts by contributing to Technical Volumes and creating technical estimates Qualifications: BS Degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, related degree, or equivalent experience 7+ years of experience developing software, with 2+ years leading software engineering teams Strong background designing and operating complex, distributed systems at scale. Proficiency in one or more of C#, C++, or Java Familiarity with modern Software Engineering practices, including but not limited to Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and performance monitoring Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for audiences from ICs to executives Physical Requirements: Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods Frequently communicates with clients, team members, etc. Travel is required as dictated by project needs Please note that this job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee in their role.
