Quality InspectorThis job description describes the authority, duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships and measure of accomplishment for the functional position of the Quality Inspector of All-Plastics.Inspects product received and manufactured for conformance to established standards by visual and mechanical measurements.The Quality Inspector receives sufficient authority from and is accountable to the QA Manager for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.The Quality Inspector reports directly to the QA Manager. This position does not supervise any direct reports.The principal duties and responsibilities of the Quality Inspector consist of, but are not limited to, the following:To assist the QA Manager and Manufacturing by inspecting product and analyzing the data that may be affecting the product or processes. Initiating action appropriate to the situation.Inspects product during the manufacturing process at prescribed intervals or per sampling plans. Assures proper labeling and sign off prior to customer shipment.Assures consistency in inspection methods, performs all inspections per procedures/work instructions. Initiates changes to procedures as appropriate.Maintains inspection records/reportsImmediately reports all discrepancies in product or processes to the Quality Manager.Initiates non-conforming tags when product is identified as discrepant or suspect.Various other duties as assignedThe Quality Inspector shall be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following have been met and/or exceeded:Quality without a problemCustomer complaintsCost of poor qualityOverall satisfaction of immediate supervisor.Education: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent with related work experience in manufacturing/injection molding.Skills: Expresses written and verbal ideas in a clear and efficient manner. Interpersonal – seeks input from others, willingly collaborates, cooperates and communicates with others in the organization. Capability in reading blueprints. Ability to organize and manage documentation/reports. Ability to think through a situation, recognize, secure and evaluate facts in reaching a conclusion/decision. Adept at self-managing time, skills and resources to meet goals. Ability to distinguish color differences on critical color matches.Physical: Includes lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms. Job may require heavy lifting (Up to 50 lbs.). Peripheral vision and depth perception required. Must be capable of wearing personal safety equipment, such as visual devices, hearing devices and back supports.Mental: Must be able to read, write and speak English. This position requires a strong math and mechanical aptitude.Working Conditions: Required to work throughout the plant in both air conditioned and non-air-conditioned situations. May work around and on machinery, using various kinds of machine and hand tools. Work environment may be hazardous, noisy, and dusty.
