Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:30 - 08:00) Experience: 3 years required; travel experience preferred License: Active state RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, TNCC Must-Have: EPIC charting system experience required Every other weekend required Holiday work required as scheduled Floating within the specialty as needed Description: The Emergency Room Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the emergency department. This role requires the ability to assess and manage patients across all age groups. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory illness. Candidates must have experience with a range of critical procedures and interventions. Staffing ratios are typically 1:4, with a maximum of 5 in lower acuity groups. The average daily census in the emergency department is approximately 140 patients. The unit is equipped with specialized tools such as Belmont systems for trauma management and Giraffe warmers for neonates. Nurses will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The position requires strong skills in both acute care and emergency settings, alongside excellent communication abilities. Candidates should have a commitment to patient care and a willingness to manage high-pressure situations. Being adaptable to dynamic patient needs and able to float within the department is essential for this role. Experience in trauma settings is preferred. This role may also involve managing mental health conditions and performing advanced life support techniques.
