Associate Medical Director - Transfusion Medicine

Position Summary

Children’s Mercy is seeking a Transfusion Medicine physician to join their team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Therapeutic Apheresis Service and Transfusion Laboratory Service and will participate in apheresis consults, oversee apheresis procedures, manage the transfusion medicine laboratory, and handle clinical pathology clinical calls.

Responsibilities

• Apheresis consults and oversight of apheresis procedures
• Management of the transfusion medicine laboratory
• Clinical pathology clinical calls
• Strong interpersonal and communicational skills
• CP or AP/CP and Blood Bank Transfusion Medicine board certifications

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted medical licenses in Missouri and Kansas
• Academic appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor (non‑tenure‑track) in the Department of Pathology at The University of Missouri Kansas City, commensurate with experience
• Expected to contribute to educational and scholarly activities in the Department of Pathology

Vaccination Requirements

Seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if non‑immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chickenpox (varicella), and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.
