Location: St. Louis, MO
Pay: Starting at $50,000 annually (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Non-Exempt, Eligible for Overtime)
Schedule
- Tuesday – Thursday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Friday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Schedule may flex based on programming and events.
- All staff are expected to work assigned High Holiday events.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and event readiness of our facility and grounds. This hands-on position is responsible for ensuring the building is well-maintained, welcoming, and fully prepared to support daily operations, community events, and special programs.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, and enjoys working in a collaborative, community-focused environment.
ResponsibilitiesBuilding & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform daily inspections of the building and grounds to identify maintenance or safety concerns.
- Complete general building maintenance and basic repairs.
- Open and close the facility as scheduled, ensuring security and readiness.
- Maintain indoor and outdoor spaces, including playgrounds, gardens, and landscaping.
- Care for indoor plants and green spaces.
- Perform laundry and linen care as needed.
Event & Facility Support
- Set up and tear down rooms for meetings, worship services, community events, and rentals.
- Arrange furniture, audiovisual equipment, and supplies according to event requirements.
- Support food service setup and cleanup for receptions and community gatherings.
- Maintain clean, organized storage areas.
Custodial Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom upkeep.
- Restock cleaning and restroom supplies.
- Respond quickly to spills and other cleaning emergencies.
Additional Duties
- Coordinate with volunteers on garden and outdoor projects.
- Communicate facility needs and repair requests to the Director of Facilities.
- Work with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
- Assist with additional facility-related projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of facilities, building maintenance, or property management experience.
- Experience supporting events and coordinating facility setup.
- Experience working with outside vendors and service contractors.
- Ability to perform general maintenance and basic repairs.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to assist wherever needed.
- Understanding and appreciation of Jewish traditions and culture is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
