Advanced Practice Provider (APP/PA/NP) Inpatient and Infusion Cellular Therapy / Stem Cell Transplant Program, Hematology-Oncology UVA Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Cellular Therapy / Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) Advanced Practice Provider team within the UVA School of Medicine’s Division of Hematology-Oncology and UVA Health’s Center for Advanced Practice. The position offers comprehensive onboarding, robust interdisciplinary collaboration, and the chance to develop deep specialty expertise in hematologic malignancies, cellular therapy, and stem cell transplantation. Schedule & Hours Three weekends per month in the Cancer Center Infusion Center: 8-hour day-shift sessions Two weekday inpatient shifts (12 hours each) on the Cellular Therapy/SCT APP service (Monday-Friday) Day‑shift position with no overnight responsibilities Structured four-month onboarding program prior to full clinical integration Primary Responsibilities Independent patient management in collaboration with attending hematologists and the interdisciplinary team Diagnostics, treatment planning, toxicity management, direct patient counseling, and care coordination Perform cellular infusions, bone marrow biopsies, and skin biopsies Interpret laboratory and imaging studies related to hematologic cancers Monitor and manage chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and associated toxicities Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment plans, side effects, prognosis, and survivorship Adhere to infection prevention protocols for immunocompromised patients Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research protocols, and interdisciplinary coordination activities Qualifications Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with a master’s degree Current NP or PA license in accordance with UVA/VA regulatory requirements Eligibility for credentialing and privileging within UVA Health Proficiency with electronic medical records; Epic experience preferred Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient‑education skills Preferred Qualifications Prior clinical experience in hematologic malignancies, cellular therapy, and/or stem cell transplantation (1–2 years preferred) Demonstrated proficiency in bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies, and cellular infusion procedures Experience managing high-acuity oncology or immunocompromised patient populations Advanced skill in interpreting diagnostic testing, including laboratory and imaging studies related to hematologic cancers Experience monitoring and managing chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and associated toxicities Prior experience in an academic medical center or multidisciplinary oncology care environment Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient‑education skills, particularly in complex oncology and transplant care Physical Demands Standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion with computer keyboard usage Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and legible writing May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease Compensation The starting base rate for this role is $116,123.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
