Athena Restaurant Chicago is seeking experienced, energetic, and hospitality-focused Servers to join our team. Servers play a vital role in creating memorable guest experiences by providing attentive service, building relationships with guests, and delivering the warm hospitality that Athena Restaurant has become known for throughout Chicago.

This is a tipped position that requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a warm, friendly, professional, and timely manner.
• Provide exceptional service throughout the dining experience.
• Develop a thorough understanding of all food, beverage, wine, beer, cocktail, and dessert offerings.
• Guide guests through menu selections and answer questions regarding ingredients, preparation methods, allergies, and dietary accommodations.
• Accurately enter orders into the POS system and communicate special requests to kitchen staff.
• Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal and respond promptly to requests.
• Maintain knowledge of daily specials, featured menu items, and restaurant promotions.
• Deliver food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.
• Process guest payments accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned stations throughout service.
• Assist with opening, closing, and side work responsibilities.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with all front-of-house and back-of-house team members.
• Ensure dining room tables are properly set and maintained according to restaurant standards.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service practices.
• Assist teammates as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operations and outstanding guest experiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) year of serving experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
• High-volume restaurant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food, wine, beer, and cocktail service preferred.
• Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain certification.
• Illinois BASSET Certification required or ability to obtain certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and remain composed during busy service periods.
• Commitment to providing exceptional guest service.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to carry food trays, beverage trays, and service items safely.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and move quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and clean uniform at all times.
