Property Damage ConsultantThis is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, experienced property damage consultant to join our Houston office. Candidates will find this position has a healthy balance of autonomy and support, while working alongside construction experts under an industry leading brand.Founded in 2002, the DBI team specializes in the evaluation of damaged structures. DBI's construction experts provide independent recommendations and analysis to clients in the insurance and legal industries. In a complex industry, the company's mission is to bring clarity to every client served by DBI through hard evidence, expertise, and accuracy.The Project Manager II is responsible for ensuring the timely and costly completion of building consulting projects. The Project Manager II will accurately evaluate damaged structures and compile a scope of repair, as well as cost projections.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop detailed budgets, estimates, and proposals across lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus formatsManage project timelines, schedules, and resource allocation to meet delivery commitmentsDemonstrate ability to lead and manage a small team on low to medium complex projectsOrganize project teams and maintain effective relationships with staff, consultants, and clientsIdentify risk exposures and resolve complex technical issues as they ariseEnforce department standards for deliverables, budget tracking, and project documentationEnsure the flow of project information is maintained and documentedPerform all other duties as assignedDBIConsistently demonstrate professionalism, integrity and the highest standards of ethical behaviorConducts daily work and interactions in a way that aligns with the organization's valuesMaintain the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information, exercising sound judgment and discretionCommit to continuous improvement and professional development for self and team membersREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferredMinimum Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience within construction, restoration, and/or property insurance related fieldsAbility to travel and build comradery with a response team. Willingness to travel +/- 25% of the workweekDesire to work in a fast-paced, in-person environment.Experience working with Xactimate, RS Means, Bluebeam Revu, Primavera and MS Projects preferredPossess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving recordSKILLS AND ABILITIESMotivated, detail oriented, and ready to take on challengesStrong verbal and written communication skillsMicrosoft Office suite, especially ExcelAbility to observe issues and suggest innovative solutionsSelf-directed with the ability to be an effective team leader and maintain a professional demeanorProven organizational skills with exemplary time managementTechnically astute and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditionsWORKING CONDITIONS:Our business requires work to be performed at the site of the property damage, including locations where disasters or catastrophes have previously occurred.This team member may be required to work in elevated areas such as roofs or scaffolding, requiring physical agility, and balance. During busy periods, this may require evening, overnight, and/or weekend travel and work.Our teams are provided with safety gear and PPE as they may be subject to, but not limited to: outdoor extreme heat, cold, and precipitation; indoor noise, vibrations, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.This team member may be required to work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, narrow aisles, passageways, or other enclosed areas, requiring physical agility and resistance to claustrophobia.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:The team member may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder.The work requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures; the incumbent is required to view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision to carry out all inspection and related duties.
