The Program Center creates opportunities for Villagers to explore interests, build skills, develop meaningful relationships, and participate in activities that bring purpose and enjoyment to their day. Through academic, arts, recreation, music, vocational, and community-based experiences, our team supports each Villager in pursuing what is meaningful to them.

Position Purpose

The Activities Professional provides flexible, person-centered support across Annandale Village’s Program Center, helping Villagers participate meaningfully in programs, activities, community experiences, and daily routines.

Working alongside Program Instructors and other team members, this role supports the implementation of engaging activities, provides transportation and program coverage, and assists Villagers based on their individual abilities, preferences, interests, and goals. Through encouragement and positive relationships, the Activities Professional helps create opportunities for Villagers to connect, participate, learn, and experience a sense of belonging.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Supporting Meaningful Programs and Activities

• Assist Program Instructors with planning and implementing academic, arts, recreation, music, vocational, and other meaningful activities. 
• Provide substitute program coverage during employee absences, meetings, vacancies, or other program needs. 
• Support Villager participation in activities based on individual interests, abilities, preferences, and goals. 
• Assist with Saturday programming, special events, celebrations, field trips, and other Program Center experiences as assigned. 
• Monitor Villager participation and engagement and provide feedback that supports individualized programming and goal development. 

Providing Person-Centered Villager Support

• Build positive, respectful relationships with Villagers and provide individualized support based on their abilities, communication styles, preferences, and needs. 
• Encourage Villagers to make choices, participate as independently as possible, and engage meaningfully in activities and daily experiences. 
• Provide personal care and hygiene assistance as needed while protecting Villager dignity, privacy, and independence. 
• Follow established behavioral support strategies and provide respectful assistance when Villagers need additional support. 
• Observe and communicate changes, concerns, or information that may affect a Villager’s participation, goals, or well-being. 

Transportation and Program Support

• Safely transport Villagers on and off campus for work, shopping, activities, outings, and other assigned destinations. 
• Assist Villagers safely into and out of organizational vehicles and provide appropriate support throughout transportation. 
• Provide monitoring and support during meals, field trips, special events, and other assigned program activities. 
• Help maintain program spaces, equipment, supplies, and materials in a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming condition. 
• Support changing Program Center needs and priorities as assigned. 

Documentation, Communication, and Teamwork

• Complete required electronic documentation related to Villager participation, behavior, goals, and services accurately and timely. 
• Provide meaningful feedback regarding Villager participation, goal attainment, and behavioral supports. 
• Work collaboratively with Program Instructors and other team members to provide consistent, coordinated support. 
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with Villagers, families, coworkers, and other members of the Annandale community. 
• Participate in required meetings, training, and educational activities. 
• Maintain Villager confidentiality and protect individual rights, dignity, and privacy. 

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain required training, certifications, and competencies. 
• Follow Annandale Village policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
• Perform other duties in the best interest of Annandale Village and the Villagers we serve. 

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. 
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and verbal instructions. 
• Basic math skills, including the ability to count, add, and subtract. 
• Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing program and Villager needs. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or other special populations desired. 

Employment Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age. 
• Valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and acceptable MVR. 
• Must meet Annandale Village requirements for operating organizational vehicles and transporting Villagers. 
• Must pass GBI and FBI background checks, including fingerprinting. 
• Must pass drug screening and tuberculosis screening. 
• Must complete and maintain required CPR, First Aid, and other assigned training and certifications. 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to actively participate with Villagers in programs, activities, community experiences, and daily routines. 
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform movements associated with providing direct support. 
• Ability to provide personal care and mobility assistance when needed. 
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and move up to 75 pounds with assistance. 
• Ability to safely transport and assist Villagers into and out of vehicles. 
• Ability to perform CPR, First Aid, and emergency response duties.
