Senior Automation Sustainment Engineer

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of professional experience as it relates to manufacturing, operations and/or automation, with at least 2 years being directly related to automation and/or controls.
• Experience in system sustainment, validation, and/or deployment.
• Knowledge of life cycle sustainment planning, requirements, and metrics.
• Experience with automation systems (torque controllers, robots, vision systems, PLCs).
• Experience with electromechanical/mechatronic systems.
• Experience with control systems consisting of multiple controllers.
• Strong understanding of programming environments (ladder logic, Visual Studio, scripting).
• Experience with the industrial internet of things (IIoT).
• Time & task management skills
• Ability to lead/manage engineers and technical trades on project teams
• Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience with the root cause and corrective action process

Other Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen as the position will require the ability to access US only Data Systems
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance within the first year employed (U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance)

Desired Skills:

• Experience with a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (LVDT and pressure transducers, dispense systems, temperature controllers, DC torque controllers, current and power meters, etc.)
• Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A).
• Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
• Experience with Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc)
• Experience with PLCs, MTConnect, and/or Transactional Automation (use of API, XML)
• Experience debugging and optimizing automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability, and yield
• Experience managing external integrators/contractors
• Understanding of Lean principles and terminology and/or six sigma black belt or equivalent
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0/Smart Factory concepts
• Understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ISA (International Society of Automation) 95 architectures.
