Neurosurgeon (Surgery – Neuro)

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Position Overview

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurosurgeon to join a highly respected neurosurgical program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This opportunity offers the chance to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary neuroscience team at a leading regional medical center with access to advanced surgical technology, comprehensive neurological services, and a strong referral network. The position includes a diverse cranial and spine case mix, trauma coverage, and opportunities for academic involvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a full spectrum of cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with neurological disorders affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical consultations and follow-up care.
  • Interpret advanced neuroimaging studies, including MRI, CT, and angiography.
  • Manage trauma-related neurosurgical cases and participate in emergency coverage.
  • Collaborate with neurologists, neurointerventional specialists, trauma surgeons, critical care physicians, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Participate in call coverage and hospital-based neurosurgical services.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based patient care practices.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows when applicable.
QualificationsRequired
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Neurosurgery Residency Program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery.
  • Active Michigan Medical License or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • BLS certification.
Preferred
  • Fellowship training in Spine Surgery, Cerebrovascular Surgery, Skull Base Surgery, Functional Neurosurgery, or Neuro-Oncology.
  • Experience managing complex cranial, spinal, and trauma cases.
  • Interest in academic medicine, research, and teaching.
