Lead Software Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC or Des Moines, IA. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

This role is ideal for developers with strong curiosity, a willingness to solve complex business and technical problems, and a passion for building production-grade solutions. You will have opportunities to learn event-driven architecture concepts like Kafka, contribute to UI enhancements using Angular or React, and build agents using Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
• Design, code, test, debug, and document features and bug fixes using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and consume RESTful APIs supporting microservices and transaction workflows
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate coding and generate test cases
• Build Agents using Gen AI and Agentic AI technologies
• Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional partners to support delivery goals and solution design
• Gain exposure to event-driven architecture concepts (Kafka, Pub Sub) and learn how messaging patterns support distributed systems
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including standups, retros, sprint planning, and code reviews
• Contribute to Generative AI features (LLM enabled workflows such as summarization, extraction, and assistant experiences) under guidance

Requirements:

• 10+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 7+ years of Java development experience
• 4+ years of Software Architecture and Solution Design Experience
• 4+ years of UI Frameworks experience such as with Angular or React JS
• 4+ years of Cloud Native Micro Services based development and Design experience
• 1 year of AI based development experience using GitHub Copilot/Claude/Devin
• Experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI (Google ADK, Lang Chain, MCP)
• Experience with Prompt Engineering

Desired Skills:

• 2+ years of experience with developing automated functional testing using BDD
• Experience developing AI prototypes or Production AI Systems
• Spring Boot application development experience
• Experience with Agile Development methodologies
• OCP experience
• Hibernate experience
• MongoDB or related NoSQL database experience
• Oracle SQL experience
• Kafka or related Data Streaming technology experience (Kafka, PubSub)
• Cloud certification from any cloud providers
• Experience with Domain Driven Design principles
• Experience with application non-functional requirements including Monitoring (APM tools), Logging (Splunk), and Distributed tracing
• Experience in build and deploy tools such as Jenkins
• Knowledge and understanding of home mortgage origination process

Pay range: $59.53 - $67.53 per hour
