A-Line Staffing is now hiring a Full-Time, Field Based, Hospice Nurse in Morristown, NJ! (THIS IS A FIELD-BASED HOSPICE NURSE ROLE. THIS INCLUDES HANDLING SUSSEX AND MORRISTOWN COUNTIES).

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospice to join our community-based hospice team in Morristown, NJ.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in home hospice nursing, excellent clinical assessment skills, and experience managing patients with life-limiting illnesses.

In this role, you will provide individualized, compassionate end-of-life care to patients in their homes while supporting their families and caregivers. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote patient comfort, dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Hospice Nurse Compensation

• The pay for this position is $60/hr + mileage
• Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment
• A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates

Hospice Nurse Highlights

• This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs
• The required availability for this position is
• • Full-time: 5 days per week
  • Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7.5-hour shifts) w/weekend rotation
  • Community-based position requiring travel to patients' homes

o   1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday

Hospice Nurse Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine hospice eligibility, care needs, and progress toward goals.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans for patients and families.
• Monitor patient conditions, manage symptoms, and provide compassionate end-of-life care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on disease progression, medications, symptom management, and hospice services.
• Coordinate hospice services, prioritize patient visits, and ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, hospice aides, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings every two weeks and communicate patient progress and care plan updates.
• Supervise Home Health Aides (HHAs) according to established standards.
• Administer and manage medications, perform medication reconciliation, and maintain accurate physician orders.
• Ensure patient safety and follow infection prevention and control protocols.
• Complete timely and accurate patient assessments, visit notes, and case management documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Maintain compliance with hospice regulations, insurance reimbursement guidelines, and productivity standards.
• Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and medical record reviews.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and onboarding new employees while supporting team collaboration and agency growth.

Hospice Nurse Requirements

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree OR Nursing Diploma.

Licensure & Certifications

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience specifically in a home hospice environment.
• Previous experience working within a hospice agency or hospice organization.
• Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 or more years of Registered Nurse experience.
• Extensive experience with hospice case management and end-of-life patient care.
• Strong understanding of hospice regulations, symptom management, and medication reconciliation.
