Drill Rig Operator

As a Drill Rig Operator at Wright Concrete Construction, you will play a crucial role in supporting underground and foundation operations. Your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain drill rigs to bore holes for foundations, install anchors, and extract soil and core samples. Your expertise in drilling techniques and commitment to safety will ensure the stability and integrity of underground structures. By following precise project plans and safety regulations, you will contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Drill Rig Operator or similar role
  • Valid certification or license to operate heavy equipment, including drill rigs
  • OSHA 10 Certification (minimum requirement)
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and blueprints
  • Strong understanding of drilling techniques, safety procedures, and equipment maintenance
  • Physical stamina and strength to operate heavy equipment for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification (preferred for leadership roles)
  • Experience operating drill rigs in foundation work, anchoring, and soil/core sampling
  • Familiarity with different drill bits and drilling methods
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and soil properties
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor drill rig issues
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain drill rigs to bore holes for foundation and anchor installations
  • Extract and analyze soil and core samples for geotechnical assessments
  • Follow project plans and blueprints to ensure accurate hole placement and depth
  • Monitor drilling operations for proper alignment, depth, and quality
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on drill rigs to maintain performance
  • Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and industry regulations to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment
  • Work closely with engineers and construction teams to ensure drilling aligns with project goals

Success in this role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety. Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting drill rig issues and adjusting drilling techniques based on ground conditions. Attention to detail and the ability to interpret project plans will ensure high-quality results.
