The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook may assist with overseeing daily kitchen operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipesEnsure meals meet physician-ordered dietary restrictions and special dietary needsPrepare and serve food in appropriate portionsPrepare pureed and modified-consistency diets accuratelyRecord and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety complianceMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areaAssist with meal service and tray preparation as neededClean cooking equipment, serving carts, and workstationsMaintain proper sanitizer solutions and follow infection control proceduresMonitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfactionReport resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing leadership and administrationParticipate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staffEnsure all cleaning schedules and sanitation standards are followedWork cooperatively with all departments to provide excellent resident careQualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredMinimum of one year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care environmentKnowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictionsStrong understanding of food safety and sanitation practicesServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain and maintain certificationExperience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferredMust remain in good standing with the Department of Public HealthWhat Makes You a Great FitExperience preparing meals for seniors and healthcare populationsUnderstanding of special diets and nutritional standardsFriendly, professional, and resident-focusedStrong organizational and time-management skillsDependable and team-orientedCompassion for an underserved populationApply TodayJoin a team that values your contributions, supports your growth, and recognizes the important role you play in residents' daily lives.
