Using a disciplined process management approach, this position will team with Howmet Engines’ manufacturing operations in implementing best practices in wax formulations, injection, assembly, and inspection processes.This position can be located in any of these locations: Whitehall MI, Dover NJ, Hampton VA, Wichita Falls TX, Morristown TN. LaPorte IN. Essential functions:Ensure wax processes (supply, injection, assembly, inspection) are performed in compliance with the methods, materials, and equipment specified in the Business Unit Manuals and associated Manufacturing Self-Assessment Tools (MSATs).Own responsibility for the revisions and upkeep of the Business Unit Wax Manuals to drive best practices.Work with wax suppliers to ensure stable and consistent supply to casting facilities.Perform periodic internal audits and external audits related to manufacturing, use, and inspection of investment casting wax materials and processes. This includes locations within the business unit global manufacturing facilities and external suppliers.Work effectively as part of a team to develop and productionize new technologies, materials, and suppliers for cost savings, process improvements, and quality improvements relative to wax and related equipment used within the company.Evaluate and document process changes, obtaining customer or engineering approval when required.Perform root cause investigations on deviations from critical process specifications and provide technical support to Plant Engineering grounded in six sigma methodology to resolve wax injection and assembly related issues.Act as a conduit between the Research Center and manufacturing facilities to ensure that technology needs are communicated and new technology is rapidly tested and implemented.About the organizationThe Howmet engines business produces world-class aerospace enginecomponents, including investment castings, fasteners, rings and forgings.
