Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Liver Transplant Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic and expanding Liver Transplant Team . Our center is a busy transplant program , performing approximately 120130 liver transplants annually . The ideal candidate will have completed a Liver Transplant Anesthesiology Fellowship or demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a dedicated career in liver transplantation. Prior experience in liver transplant anesthesia is highly desirable.

About the Program

Our multidisciplinary transplant team currently consists of seven members , and we are looking to grow to meet increasing patient demand. The program is supported by experienced hepatologists, transplant surgeons, intensivists, and transplant coordinators, fostering a highly collaborative and collegial environment. Importantly, the majority of liver transplants are performed during daytime hours , allowing for a balanced and sustainable call schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for liver transplant surgeries and related hepatobiliary procedures.

• Manage perioperative care of complex liver transplant patients, including preoperative assessment and postoperative recovery.

• Collaborate closely with transplant surgeons, hepatologists, and ICU teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Participate in general operating room (OR) call coverage in addition to liver transplant call responsibilities .

• Call schedules are separate and do not overlap , ensuring a manageable workload.

• Contribute to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical excellence initiatives within the program.

• Teach and mentor residents and fellows.

• Participate in clinical research and academic activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or equivalent).

• Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology .

• Completion of (or current enrollment in) a Liver Transplant Anesthesiology Fellowship preferred but not necessary. 

• Prior experience in liver transplant anesthesia highly desirable.

• TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography) Basic or Advanced certification ideal but not required.

• Strong commitment to patient care, teamwork, and academic excellence.
