divh2Patient Access Registrations Specialist I/h2pA Patient Access Registrations Specialist I is responsible for providing excellent customer service and facilitating the registration and scheduling process for patients and visitors at Intermountain Health. The caregiver ensures that accurate and complete information is collected and entered into the system, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects co-pays and balances, and follows up on pending issues. The caregiver also adheres to Intermountain Healths policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality./ppPRN Position: As needed varied shifts, including weekends/ppEssential Functions/pulliGreet and assist patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner./liliObtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information./liliRegister and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures./liliCollect and process co-pays, deductibles, and balances due at the time of service./liliProvide patients with information on financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care./liliExplain and obtain signatures on consent forms, policies, and disclosures./liliProvide patients with directions, maps, and parking information./liliCoordinate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow and quality care./liliDocument and update patient records in the electronic health system./liliFollow up on pending issues, such as prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications./li/ulpSkills/pulliInterpersonal Skills/liliCustomer Service/liliInsurance Verification/liliComputer Literacy/liliPayment Processing/liliMedical Billing/liliProblem Solving/li/ulpQualifications/pulliHigh School diploma or equivalent is preferred./liliDemonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office, internet and email required./liliExperience with Epic preferred./liliCustomer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, is required./liliDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment./li/ulpPhysical Requirements/pulliOngoing need for caregiver to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs./liliFrequent interactions with customers that require caregiver to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately./liliManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use./liliExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
