RN - PCU Profession: RN-WGMC-ICU/IMCU Specialty: RN Registered / Licensed - Inpatient Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7pm-7am) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: RN - Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Must-Have: Experience with direct patient care Description:The RN Clinical Nurse Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through shared governance. The framework for practice is guided by professional practice models, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by foundational values. All RN Clinical Nurses Critical Care are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards of nursing practice. They implement the scope of practice and code of ethics put forth by professional nursing associations. As a member of the patient services team, individuals are expected to uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:The RN performs the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation—in the delivery of clinical care. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Care is individualized and coordinated through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient outcomes. The RN provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. They partner with patients and significant others appropriately using methods conducive to setting and purpose. They keep patients and families updated and make patient goals the focus of the care plan. They practice using current clinical standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: The RN coordinates and documents the delivery of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model. They engage in diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation. Demonstrating teamwork, they practice in a fiscally responsible manner to promote recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. They participate in and support performance improvement initiatives, research utilization, and shared governance. Professional Development and Initiative: The RN completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments and mandatory education. They serve as preceptors and mentors for fellow nurses and staff, ensuring a qualified future workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The RN promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. They participate in value analysis and uphold organizational policies, legal requirements, and standards. They engage in data collection and consult experts to address clinical practice questions. Resources and Support: The RN proactively plans for the care of patients throughout the care continuum. They participate in protocol development to achieve best practice outcomes.
