Locums Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Hackensack, New Jersey. This outpatient-only assignment is covering a leave of absence and offers a collaborative practice environment with an established cardiac surgery team.

Compensation:  $125 Per Hour

Position Highlights

Schedule: Monday–Friday, four 10-hour shifts per week (alternating day off)

Setting: Outpatient only

Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage preoperative and postoperative cardiac surgery patients

See approximately 10 patients per day

Perform minor postoperative procedures, including:

Wound debridement

Wound packing placement

Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons and advanced practice providers to ensure continuity of care

Practice Environment

Work alongside 5 Cardiac Surgeons

Collaborate with 5 outpatient Advanced Practice Providers and the Clinical APN Manager

Coordinate care with the inpatient NP/PA team

Supported by experienced clerical coordinators, scheduling staff, certified medical assistants (CMAs), an office supervisor, and an office manager

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with cardiac surgery experience

Active New Jersey license

Current DEA and CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances) registration

Experience managing cardiac surgery patients in an outpatient or surgical practice setting preferred
