TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Telemetry RN in Peoria, Illinois, 61637!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardio Thoracic Unit Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS recommended Must-Have: EKG interpretation, medication titration, RN licensure, BLS, basic nursing skills Description: This unit has 70 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio during the day is 1:4-5 and 1:5-6 at night. Common diagnoses include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, and lung surgeries. Experience with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow is beneficial. Nurses are required to titrate drips, mainly Cardizem and heparin. There is a charge nurse on duty 24/7 who rarely takes patients. A house supervisor is also available 24/7. Patient care technicians are present on the unit with ratios of 1:8-9 during the day, 1:9-10 in the evening, and 1:10-12 at night. RNs may troubleshoot CPAP and BiPAP machines as needed. RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips using Phillips monitors. Shifts run from 0700-1930 and 1900-0730. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend. Holiday rotations are mandatory. Nurses may float to other general medical units when necessary. Scrubs of any color are permitted, except for those with children or cartoon prints. Unit-specific orientation typically lasts one shift or part of a shift based on prior experience.
