Job Summary Senior Physical Therapist – Ambulatory Care (Full Time, 40 Hours) – Boston, MA Compensation: $96,886.40 – $140,899.20 annual; benefits include paid time off, 403B match, pension/cash balance account, tuition reimbursement, continuing education, medical, dental, short‑term disability, MBTA Pass subsidy, and more. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Examine and evaluate patients’ physical therapy needs, formulate diagnoses and treatment plans, and set goals to maximize function. Demonstrate competence in all clinical knowledge and skills for assigned patient case types. Act as a clinical or non‑clinical resource for staff and patients. Consult with other health‑care team members to coordinate effective therapies. Provide orientation to new staff, participate on committees, conduct quality‑improvement activities, and supervise students and aides. Assist in implementing quality‑assurance programs and triage processes for admissions, referrals, and discharges. Support staff education and program development through participation in special interest groups or committees. Manage department supplies and equipment, making inventory recommendations. Assume responsibilities assigned by the Director in the absence of the clinical supervisor. Attend departmental meetings to formulate policies, procedures, and program development. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program; Bachelor’s Degree required, DPT preferred. Current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in Massachusetts. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience with a performance record that consistently exceeds expectations. Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills for leadership, training, and teamwork. Analytical abilities and deep knowledge of physical therapy for program development and orientation of new staff. Effective written and verbal communication to interact with patients, the care team, and families. Physical stamina for walking, standing, lifting, transferring, and transporting patients. Ability to work with patients of all ages, including newborns to the elderly. Knowledge of growth and development principles applicable to all age groups. Working Conditions Exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases (10%–25% of work time). Physical effort for lifting, transferring, and positioning patients and equipment (up to 50% of work time) may cause musculoskeletal strain. Use of sharp or electrical equipment (up to 20% of work time) carries risk of cuts or burns. Physical Requirements Standing 34–66% of the time. Walking 34–66% of the time.
