Power Design Engineer II (Onsite)

Position Overview Raytheon's Effector Analog & Power (EAP) Team is looking for junior to mid‑level engineers who have power electronics knowledge to help design robust power systems. Department Focus The Effector Power Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of telemetry and flight termination products; power systems from all up to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed‑signal electronics that provide the analog‑to‑digital interface to our front‑end sensors. Each of these products generally operates in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V. What You Will Do Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry. Work with non‑isolated and isolated switch‑mode power converters and linear converters, mainly board‑mounted power end‑use applications. Assist in architecting at the circuit card level and help see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing. Drive to meet schedule concerns, define schedules for circuit‑level tasking, and guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities. Support layer stackup definition and function as an individual contributor while understanding the role of a small team lead and engaging in personal technical growth. Clearly present your work product to functional and program leadership. Qualifications – Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with non‑isolated converter topologies such as buck, boost, buck‑boost. Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or similar. Design and/or analysis experience with analog electronics, including at least one of the following: FETs/BJTs, op‑amplifiers, high/low/band‑pass filters, clock/data termination, or comparator circuits. Qualifications – Preferred Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering. Design and analysis experience with analog or digital power converter design. Experience guiding ECAD personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation. Strong communication skills for documenting technical topics at a small‑team level. Experience bridging program and functional management in a cross‑matrixed organization. Experience with military specifications or designs for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW. Familiarity with three‑phase power systems, power‑factor control, and inverter/rectifier development. Security Clearance U.S. citizenship and a valid DoD Secret clearance are required prior to start date. Salary & Benefits Salary range: $66,000 – $130,000 (USD). Relocation eligible.
