Engineer Guidance Navigation Control 3Job#: 3054084Job Description:Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense security clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.Engineer Guidance Navigation Control 3Location: Chandler, Arizona (Onsite)Clearance: Secret clearanceRole OverviewAs a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer, you will play a key role in missions of national importance by leading the development and refinement of GNC solutions. You will lead the development and evaluation of guidance, navigation, and control systems for advanced aerospace applications. This position requires you to apply mathematical modeling, control theory, and algorithm development to achieve precise navigation and control performance.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, implementation, verification, and test of high-quality software and simulation toolchains.Own the development and maintenance of six degree of freedom (6 DOF) simulations used to design, analyze, and validate flight algorithms and flight code.Optimize flight and simulation software for performance, robustness, and maintainability.Define and execute trajectory analysis and optimization campaigns to evaluate mission performance and GNC designs.Mentor early career engineers and provide technical direction on GNC approaches.Collaborate with cross-functional teams across integration, test, and analysis activities.Present technical results, risks, and recommendations to program leadership.Required QualificationsEducation: A Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience, or a PhD with 4 years of professional experience in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.Experience: Demonstrated experience with guidance, navigation, and/or control concepts, algorithms, or analysis for aerospace or missile systems is necessary. Experience leading or significantly contributing to development, modeling, simulation, test, integration, or analysis activities for aerospace or autonomous systems is also required.Candidates must be willing and able to obtain a DOD secret clearance within a reasonable timeframe as dictated by the program prior to starting program work.Technical Skills: Proficiency with C++, GNC, and MATLAB is required. Development experience in a Linux environment is also needed.Preferred QualificationsActive DOD Secret ClearanceA Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.Strong foundation in control systems theory and guidance law design, including application to flight software.Navigation experience including Kalman filters and M code, with an ability to analyze and tune performance.Experience with tracking, discrimination, and state estimation algorithms.Competence in Python and Jira.Familiarity with modern software engineering practices such as version control and continuous integration.Knowledge of 6DoF, Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), Guidance Systems, Hypersonics, LQR, PID Control, and Rigid Body Dynamics.Work EnvironmentThis position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
