Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technician plays a vital role in providing patient care in an operating room setting. This position involves supporting surgical procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment to ensure the safety and success of surgical interventions.

Position Information

• Shift: Weekdays, 4 days a week, combination of 8's and 12's
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 40
• Call Requirements: No Call

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience required in an operating room setting, with a focus on trauma.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Prior travel experience is mandatory.

Additional Comments

Travelers may need to float to meet the organization's needs, based on their competency level. The schedule may require working major holidays and picking up additional shifts as needed. The organization reserves the right to adjust schedules based on census levels and hospital needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and instruments.
• Assist surgeons during operations by maintaining a sterile field, anticipating their needs, and passing instruments as required.
• Perform various tasks under direct supervision, including applying electrocautery, holding retractors, and irrigating the surgical site.
• Care for surgical instrumentation and equipment post-procedure, ensuring proper maintenance and readiness for subsequent cases.
• Support efficient room turnover to optimize service for surgeons, patients, and other healthcare team members.
