Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

This is a 13-week contract position.

24-Hours, Evening, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, Every other weekend and holiday

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides patient care based on standards of care and established policies and procedures under the direction of a licensed nurse. This role involves a wide range of support functions aimed at enhancing patient well-being and safety in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, toileting, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collect basic health data as directed by a licensed nurse.
• Prioritize patient care and recognize the need for emergency interventions.
• Respect each patient as an individual, promoting their dignity and self-regard.
• Document all pertinent patient information accurately and timely.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identifying and removing safety hazards.
• Provide detailed information on assigned patients to the supervising licensed nurse and healthcare team members.
• Participate in educational programs and assist with the orientation of new staff.
• Identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical errors.
• Ensure patients are dressed appropriately and well-groomed.
• Transport patients for scheduled tests and activities.
• Monitor patient activity in the Activities Room for overall safety.
• Participate in scheduled patient groups and activities as assigned.
• Assist with ambulation to maintain or improve patients' functional abilities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification required, or any of the following:
• Minimum of 75 hours in an accredited nursing program including completion of the first rotation.
• Active EMT or Paramedic Certification.
• Active Patient Care Technician/Assistant Certification.
• Active Home Health Aide Certification.
• AHA CPR certification obtained within 60-days of hire.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide program or previous Massachusetts CNA licensure for Nurse Aide.
• 1 year of experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.
