Job Description Forklift Operator - Shipping Department
Location: East Longmeadow, MA
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $18 /hour while temping Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Forklift Operator to join our Shipping Department in East Longmeadow, MA. This role is essential to ensuring accurate and timely shipment of products. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience and strong attention to detail when counting and verifying parts before shipment. Key Responsibilities:
• Operate forklifts to safely load and unload trucks
• Transport materials and finished goods to proper staging and storage locations
• Accurately count and verify parts before packaging and shipping
• Prepare outgoing shipments, including labeling, wrapping, and palletizing
• Check incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and any damage
• Keep the shipping area clean and organized
• Follow safety procedures and maintain valid forklift certification
• Assist with inventory and cycle counts as needed Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of forklift operating experience (current certification preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when counting parts
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Familiarity with basic shipping paperwork and warehouse procedures
• Good time management and organizational skills Preferred:
• Experience with RF scanners or shipping software
